The sensor featured in the video is not submerged; instead, it measures the air pressure within the connected tube.

Typically, small, low-pressure sensors are designed for compatibility with air and dry, inert gases. Any additional media compatibility tends to be the exception rather than the norm. Sensors that can handle water or other challenging media often have threaded connections and higher measurable pressure ranges compared to the 50mm Hg previously mentioned. Unfortunately, while it would be beneficial to select media compatibility parametrically, this option is currently unavailable on the DK website.
When you need to make quick or frequent wiring changes, inductive couplers offer a reliable and efficient way to connect multiple discrete PNP sensors. Balluff provides two versions tailored to meet your specific application requirements. The M18 cylindrical housing version can connect up to four sensors, whereas the Q40 cuboid housing version can accommodate up to eight sensors. Featuring an IP67 rating, these couplers effectively transmit power and signals over a small air gap.

Featured Content:An inductive coil embedded in the base unit and remote units facilitates the sending and receiving of magnetic signals. A single base unit can work with multiple remote units, allowing for various wiring setups on the remote side to be interchanged as necessary. Balluff’s passive junction boxes simplify this wiring process. To connect to the base unit, simply position the base in front of the remote. Perfect alignment isn't a requirement, and their orientation can be modified. As soon as they are in close proximity, they will start communicating, indicated by LEDs on both the base and remote lighting up to show that an active connection has been established. Magnetic mounts for the Q40 models protect the couplers while ensuring they remain aligned at an optimal distance.
This retrofit presents an excellent solution for replacing electromechanical or hardwired connections on existing equipment. Unlike a slip ring or rotary connector that may wear out over time, an inductive coupler avoids mechanical failure since the base and remote do not touch. When changing a die or mold, disconnecting and reconnecting cables can lead to bent pins in the connector, causing it to fail over time. With inductive couplers, the remote coupler can be consistently mounted in the same position on each die or mold, allowing for easy swaps as needed. Enhance your machines' productivity by transitioning from wired connections to non-contact ones.
