We have a number of resources available to assist Gorman-Rupp pump users.  Manuals are specific to serial number ranges, and parts for your pump may be specific to your particular serial number.  The specification sheets, drawings and curves provided on this site are all for the latest issue of each model, and may not necessarily reflect the details of your pump.  This information is provided for reference only.  Included here are the following:

Gorman Rupp 2 1/2 pump/Briggs engine - Smokstak

From fire department, i know nothing about these exhaust primed type of Gorman Rupp pumps, were these used for filling tankers from rivers and streams ?

If anything im more interested in the engines, looks like could be model 23 engine but also 24 or 32 but not sure.

If anyone has worked on these before is the crank PTO straight shaft or tapored, can i remove the impeller blade, pump housing, flange and bolt a regular bearing plate on for use in a Simplicity tractor ?

Thanks.

we just got rid of the last of our gorman rupp pumps a couple years ago. They were from the 60's .
The exhaust primer was a venturi chamber that cause a vacuum on the intake side of the pump to cause a suction head. It would lift in the neighborhood of 10 feet of lift if the seals & packings were in good shape.

Don't remember what they had for a crankshaft in them, but gorman rupp had the manuals online at one time.

They could be used for drafting or firefighting. One of ours had a high pressure 2 stage pump on it that would flow water at 150 psi. Thank you for that, i stumbled across one that looked very close to what i am looking at and typed in the model # of 62 1/2 A 1-24, one old auction listing popped up (picture below), the engine Briggs 23, further research and i found one of KD Reeds replies here.
I remember Reed, he was the man regarding the older cast iron Briggs, his coil convertion helped me with a model 14.
In his reply he stated that the impeller was screwed onto the crank which kicks my thoughts of using the engine in a tractor unless the crank and bearing cover was switched.

In your opinion are these pumps worth it ? were you able to find parts if needed ?
no manual was found using the above model no, only the earlier ones.

yours is a little smaller than the ones we had. They were 11 hp and heavy basturds to carry with the small fold out handles on each end. cast iron pump housing and impellers.
They were good running units in their time, but age and the mechanical seal on the pump shafts made them temperamental.

We replaced them with HONDA powered portable pumps that weighed a lot less and started with one pull. Don't know if the new ones will last as long as the old Gorman rupp units, but they sure are easier to carry.

I'll look around through my archives and see if there are any parts breakdown sheets for them. I have a setup somewhat like what the OP speaks of.

I'm missing one critical part...

The side cover of the 11 hp B&S engine that has the 1 inch threaded shaft.

The 11hp bs engine has a side cover but not one that fits the mount holes of the pump.

Will edit to add pics ASAP.

I'm also involved in restoring these pumps, have a 23AFB and a 23FB on Gorman Rupp 2-1/2 pumps.

I'll see if they are restorable, the AFB may be junk and be up for sale, which would give you parts.

23AFB

I'll get pics of what I have tonight and post them.

Don't think my BS engine has a tag like others I've seen but I'll give it a other once over.

23AFB

Are they for sale ?
If so how much would you like for them in USD ?

I have manuals and parts diagrams that I kept from what our fire dept has.
