Dr. Sulewski: An excellent question! Most patients benefit from using a combination of fillers to address specific concerns. For instance, a softer filler is often employed for fine lines around the lips, with popular options being Belotero, Restylane Silk, or Volbella. Additionally, other treatments such as strong resurfacing lasers or NovaThreads may be recommended for more comprehensive results. Remember, using sunscreen daily can help prevent lines from worsening.
Dr. Sulewski: Restylane is my go-to for under-eye treatments due to its softer texture, ideal for this delicate area. Thicker fillers can result in side effects like bruising and nodules, leading to an unnatural look. For optimal results, I often combine Restylane with a denser filler in the central cheek for enhanced support, resulting in a more natural appearance and extended longevity.

Dr. Sulewski: Restylane remains the best option for filling under-eye hollowness. Although individual cases vary, alternatives like Belotero or Volbella might be considered. Enhancing the cheek area can further support under-eye treatments. For upper eyelid hollowness, surgical options are preferable as fillers may not always yield natural results.
A 25-year-old female has struggled with a dark horizontal line across her nose, worsening over the past year. She also has pet and seasonal allergies. Makeup tends to sink into the crease, making it more visible. Despite trying prescription Retina A and 8% hydroquinone, the results were unsatisfactory.
Dr. Sulewski: This issue can be challenging to completely rectify but combining soft fillers and Botox should show improvement. Depending on the initial response, NovaThreads might also be a valuable option. Regular treatments will be necessary to maintain the results.
Dr. Sulewski: After Botox and Juvederm injections, most day-to-day activities can be resumed immediately, including walking, driving, or motorcycle riding. However, we advise patients to avoid exercise for 24 hours. In the case of fillers like Juvederm, steering clear of dental work for two weeks is prudent to avoid rare adverse effects.
Dr. Sulewski: We encourage our patients to stay active but ask them to postpone exercise for the first 24 hours post-treatment. While there is a slight risk of fillers shifting, the primary concern is bruising due to increased blood flow during high-intensity activities. Additionally, patients should avoid pressing on the treated areas to prevent affecting filler placement.
Dr. Sulewski: Hyaluronic acid fillers are frequently used for jawline enhancement. Radiesse, composed of calcium hydroxyapatite, is also a viable option, providing more structure.
Dr. Sulewski: While dermal fillers can be used to treat acne scars, they are generally not my first choice. Alternative treatments like chemical peels, lasers, and subcision (loosening scars from underneath the surface) are usually more effective. When I do use fillers for acne scars, I opt for softer fillers to achieve the best results.
